Pharma-grade cultivation
What makes your cultivation pharma-grade?
Our pharma-grade approach combines controlled cultivation with testing, traceability and quality oversight. We start with tissue-culture-derived plants and use clonal propagation to maintain a consistent genetic foundation.
Within our Wiltshire glasshouse, we carefully manage light, temperature, humidity, airflow and nutrition as plants develop. Every plant is tracked through cultivation and processing, with in-house and external laboratory testing used to assess cannabinoid content and product quality.
Together, these controls support the consistent production of medical cannabis flower for UK supply.
Why do consistency and standardisation matter?
A cultivar’s name alone does not tell you how consistently it has been grown or processed. For clinics, patients and manufacturing partners, dependable product specifications matter from one batch to the next.
At Glass Pharms®, we combine a consistent genetic starting point with controlled growing conditions, defined post-harvest procedures and laboratory testing to manage variation between harvests.
Cannabis is a biological product, so some natural variation remains. Our approach helps us measure and control that variation against defined quality requirements.
What are precision chemotypes?
At Glass Pharms®, we use “precision chemotypes” to describe cannabis genetics selected for their cannabinoid and terpene profiles.
We assess cultivars for their chemical composition, growing performance and suitability for medical cannabis production. Selected genetics are maintained through tissue culture and clonal propagation, giving each crop a consistent genetic starting point.
Controlled growing conditions and laboratory testing then help us manage and verify the characteristics of the flower we produce.
How do you control product quality?
Quality checks run throughout cultivation, harvesting and post-harvest processing.
Every plant is tracked within our quality-management system, with records of its growing conditions, handling and testing. We monitor the crop for pathogens and use in-house and external laboratory testing to assess flower quality, including cannabinoid and terpene profiles. After harvest, each flower is inspected by hand, while drying, curing and storage take place under controlled conditions.
Together, these checks provide traceability and help us identify and address issues throughout production.
