We are now beginning construction of a state-of-the-art glasshouse facility that, when completed in 2022, will be able to deliver unprecedented supply chain security for plant-based medicines in the UK.
This new generation of glasshouse uses the latest innovation and technology from our Dutch partners to deliver energy efficiency savings of more than 20% over legacy glasshouses.
Paired with a solar farm and a sustainable energy production plant, the energy we need for cultivation will be sourced directly on-site. We will recycle the energy wherever possible, using excess heat from the production plant, for both heating and cooling.
Further efficiencies are achieved by using AI to monitor and control all aspects of the climate within the glasshouse. Our robotic container system also allows us to move small batches of plants around the glasshouse in order to deliver optimal conditions for every growth stage. This means custom orders for clinics, pharmaceutical companies and research institutions will be possible with small minimum order sizes and with exceptional consistency.
